In January 1975, in an old mansion in Praça Presidente Vargas, where the Kurihara Supermarket is now built, health care activities began, such as medical consultations, childbirth and minor surgeries.In this place, in an improvised physical space, the Hospital remained in operation for six years.On May 1, 1981, Hospital e Maternidade São Lucas transferred its facilities to the new building, recently built, in Jardim São Cristóvão, where it remains installed to this day.
From then on, a new phase began with the arrival of new doctors in the city.
Those were very difficult times.
The Hospital needed to be equipped and there were physical and material difficulties and even the population engaged in campaigns to help the hospital.The vast majority of the population was not in the habit of seeking medical care; for many years, a large part of the health care provided to the population of Extrema was carried out in the neighboring city of Bragança Paulista.Gradually, the hospital gained credibility and increasingly improved its resolution potential.
Since then, there has been a significant growth in the number of visits, hospitalizations, surgeries and deliveries.During these years, there was also a significant increase in the clinical staff and in the number of employees.Mainly in the last decade, large investments were made in infrastructure, making the hospital very problem-solving and efficient, with highly qualified professionals, focused on excellent care.This made the hospital enter a new phase, starting to be sought after by the population of neighboring cities, becoming a reference in the extreme south region of Minas, especially for the most complex cases.Crowning this rise, in 2008 the Hemodialysis Unit was inaugurated and in 2013 the Intensive Care Unit.The city grew, many companies came to the municipality and the population increased.
Today, the Hospital meets numerous medical agreements, in addition to its own agreement.Currently, around 400 hospitalizations, 80 deliveries, 120 surgeries, 16,000 laboratory tests, 2,600 imaging tests and 4,500 emergency room visits are carried out monthly.To adapt to this demand, the hospital is currently undergoing a remodeling phase in its physical structure, through a beautiful architectural project, acquired from architects specialized in the hospital area, with expansions, renovations, and the construction of a new wing.
for the hospitalization sector, with new apartments, served by two elevators and that will soon be delivered to users.Hospital São Lucas is located at Rua Mauri Bueno de Andrade, 101, in Jardim São Cristóvão, in Extrema, Minas Gerais.With an area of ​​five thousand square meters of construction, where the Emergency Room, Inpatient Unit, Surgical Center, Intensive Care Unit, Hemodialysis Service, Maternity, and Nursery and an advanced Diagnostic Medicine service work.Our average monthly service in 2017/2018 was: Emergency room visits – 7,000/Month Laboratory tests - 20,000/Month Imaging Exams - 3,600/Month Hospitalizations - 400/Month Delivery - 100/Month Surgeries - 270/MonthOver the last few years, Hospital São Lucas has been undergoing a progressive process of improvements, including physical and technological modernization with the sole objective of offering our customers a standard of care and differentiated qualities in medicine and health.Also part of this strategy is the improvement of service infrastructure, in search of total quality in all our activities, with economic and financial sustainability.
